Evaluate

In the last part of the design thinking process we got to see real results as we tested our prototype with users on Friday. All of our hard work to create a solution to the problem being faced by Johnson and Johnson paid off. Watching people interact with our prototype, check out our site, and listen to what we had was one of the most rewarding parts of this semester long project as I felt my team really succeeded in coming up with a creative working solution which were water soluble pods filled with dehydrated face wash. In this phase, we were also able to gain some important feedback from users which is priceless. This feedback really helps us understand what the users like or dislike about our idea and what they might recommend that we change. We had users write their feedback on sheets which we then collected and reviewed as a team afterwards. However, these sheets were not the only feedback we received. We also asked users on Friday what their honest opinion was of our product and if they saw themselves using our Sustina pods and why or why not. We also wanted to understand if people would be comfortable with the idea of switching from a traditional face washing method where you pump the liquid out of a bottle and into your hand and wash your face, to our more sustainable pod method. We had several people confirm that they would not have a problem with it. A few people told me that it really all depends on how we market our product and if we show users how to use it in a quick and simple way then they would probably be up to try it. Additionally, we also asked people what their opinion was if we tweaked our idea a bit to have a hard shell of soap on the outside as a water-soluble casing and the liquid face wash inside of it. We received support as well as mixed reactions. Some people liked the pod more while others thought the pod reminded them of a detergent which they didn’t like. After gathering all of our feedback we created a grid on a white board and organized all of the takeaways. Some helpful feedback was that we talk about a lot of different things in our pitch from Johnson and Johnson, to beauty products, to tide pods, to our Sustina pods and people felt a little confused. Probably the most challenging part of this is getting negative feedback. However, this always helps us to improve and address the needs of the consumers. The grid really helped us focus on main parts of our pitch and project that we should keep and which things should be changed.
